The world’s game always finds its way into other sports. The18 has reported on Footgolf and Bike Soccer, but those aren’t the only soccer hybrid sports out there.
Along comes “HEADIS.” According to Wikipedia, it was invented in 2006 by René Wegner, a Saarbruecker sports science student. In 2008 HEADIS became part of the sports program at the University of Saarbruecken and it spread throughout Germany.
There are now HEADIS tournaments around Germany, and this year was the 2014 HEADIS World Cup. Germany dominated this specific type of soccer, just like they did at the real World Cup. Above is a video of the Top 10 plays from the tournament.
