There’s enough to Zlatan Ibrahimović that — despite your opinion on his ego and how he handles himself — he’s essentially a stand-alone force when it comes to pure entertainment.
No athlete on the planet transcends myth, legend and reality quite like Zlatan, just as no other athlete would proclaim themselves god before backing it up in the most incredulous way: The 39-year-old is at the top of the Serie A goalscoring charts and AC Milan is top of the table.
Just how riveting of a footballer Zlatan is is evident in how he made both Manchester United and the LA Galaxy watchable again in recent years, but he’s also shone across the entire artistic apparatus, be it documentary (Becoming Zlatan), biography (I Am Zlatan), television (PTI) and art (the ever-vandalized statue).
So when we hear that they’ve started filming a biopic that’s an adaption of the I Am Zlatan book, we don’t ask any questions apart from “when does it release?”
The film is scheduled for a 2021 release, and it’ll feature different actors playing Zlatan at different stages of his life. All we want to know is who’ll play former Milan teammate Oguchi Onyewu in the infamous fight.
