Olivier Giroud says Christian Pulisic used to be “a happy boy” and AC Milan would love to have him

AC Milan forward Olivier Giroud said that USMNT star Christian Pulisic was a “happy boy” at Chelsea when they played together, compared the American to Eden Hazard and claimed he’d be welcomed in Milan.

Giroud made a guest appearance on the CBS Sports GOLAZO! Network on Thursday and shared his experiences of playing with Pulisic. The 36-year-old Frenchman and Pulisic played together for two seasons at Chelsea in the 2019-20 and 2020-21 campaigns, winning the UEFA Champions League in the process.

Here’s what Giroud had to say about Captain America.

Giroud Pulisic comments

The two players have had polar opposite 2022-23 seasons. Giroud is aging like fine wine with 19 goal involvements (13 goals, six assists) for the Rossoneri. He also scored the deceisive goal vs. Napoli to send Milan to the UCL semis.

Meanwhile, Pulisic has made just eight starts in the Premier League this season, has scored one goal and is one of the first names on the Chelsea chopping block this summer. He didn't even make the bench for Chelsea's game vs. Arsenal at the Emirates on Tuesday.

Pulisic has been linked with a litany of teams in the past, including Milan. This past winter transfer window, Newcastle and Manchester United looked like the top suitors with Milan also in the mix until Pulisic suffered a knee injury.

Perhaps this Giroud interview could reignite the Pulisic to AC Milan rumors.

“The people here would love it (Pulisic joining AC Milan). He’s definitely a big name in Europe so he would help us,” Giroud said.

Milan’s star left winger Rafael Leão will be one of the top options for big teams in this summer’s transfer window. If he were to leave Milan, then perhaps Pulisic could fill the left wing vacancy.

It’s only a hypothetical, but we’d love to see Pulisic and Giroud teaming up again.
