It's nearly impossible to get a large group of people to agree on something, anything. If you can make a significant portion of the population agree on a thing, you are doing something very special. Soccer fans, for example, cannot agree on which formation is best, which player is best, which manager is right for which club or how much money a player is worth. The only thing soccer fans universally agree on is FIFA is trash, and that is because FIFA is doing something very special.
To wit, from the Guardian:
Fifa is facing legal action in the Swiss courts over its alleged complicity in the mistreatment of migrant workers in Qatar ahead of the 2022 World Cup, the Guardian can reveal.
I encourage you to read the entire article, which wasn't eye-opening only because everybody's eyes were already open. Basically, it's about how FIFA bungled the 2022 World Cup in just about every conceivable way, and not in a likeable bungling way like by accident. They bungled it by ignoring human rights violations and doing some really shady stuff to get the World Cup to Qatar in the first place.
The real big news here is this is not real big news. We used to think it would take something drastic to change FIFA. Then something drastic happened, and FIFA didn't change at all. The names change, but the song remains the same.
Hopefully, eventually the legal systems of various countries can sort FIFA out. Until then, we'll just prepare for more articles like this.
