Hirving Lozano could be SDFC’s first big signing.
'Chucky' Lozano San Diego FC rumor
According to multiple reports, Mexican national team player Hirving Lozano is in advanced talks to sign with new MLS expansion team San Diego FC for their inaugural 2025 MLS Season.
The club would be paying Lozano's current team PSV Eindhoven around $12 million to acquire the forward in the next transfer window. ‘Chucky’ would become SDFC’s first designated player.

Lozano, 28, wouldn't need to report with San Diego until January as they prepare their debut campaign and is expected to have to play at another club on loan in Europe in the meantime.

The move to San Diego FC would come after seven years of playing in Europe — a stint where he was able to win multiple domestic titles with PSV in the Netherlands, as well as the historic Serie A title with Napoli in 2023.
Lozano would not be the only Mexican player expected to play with the San Diegan squad, as other reports indicate the club are aiming to sign legendary El Tri goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa as a free agent this summer.
The club have also said to be interested in signing experienced Liga MX Pumas UNAM midfielder Jesús Molina, who is of the liking of legendary Mexico striker Hugo Sánchez — the only manager that has been rumored to lead the team from the bench for their first season.
