Some unintentional André Onana time wasting at the end of Manchester United’s 3-2 defeat to Nottingham Forest on Saturday caught the attention of fans. Onana somehow wasted 40 whole seconds to take a free kick near midfield.
The Premier League matchup was in stoppage time with United desperately seeking an equalizer. With less than two minutes left of time, the Red Devils were awarded a free kick.
Onana raced to midfield to take the kick and tried to sneakily move the ball closer to Forest’s goal. The referee was having none of it and demanded that Onana move the ball back to the original spot of the foul.
What followed next was 40 seconds of precious Manchester United time wasted.

You would’ve thought that Onana’s team were winning due to how many seconds he burned before taking the kick.
It felt appropriate that in the end the ball fell to Harry Maguire who proceeded to head it out for a goal kick. United would run out of time before finding an equalizer and lose a second-straight league game. They sit 13th in the table.
For Nottingham Forest it was another remarkable result in their strong start to the season. The victory at Old Trafford boosted Forest to 25 points after just 15 games. Last season they only managed 32 points.
Onana had another blunder during the game when Morgan Gibbs-White’s tame effort from outside the box somehow got away from the United goalkeeper.

Onana was notorious for his mistakes in net last season but had been doing a better job in the 2024-25 campaign. It seems that streak has ended.
