Eric Bailly wore some jelly shoes to Manchester United training. For this indiscretion he was roasted on Instagram by teammates Ashley Young and Juan Mata, and rightly so.
Just take a look:
We would like to present this contrasting opinion: actually, Eric Bailly's jelly shoes are fine. In fact, they're great.
The reason they're great is also the reason Juan Mata and Ashley Young and various Internet folks thing they're so bad: they are weird. These are not normal shoes, and especially not normal shoes for a footballer.
One reason they're weird is they cost like five bucks, which is far less than our assumpion of Eric Bailly's shoe budget. Dude makes millions. We don't know the exact price of jelly shoes, but we do not want that information in our brains so we are deliberately not looking it up. Another reason they're weird is just look at those f****** things. What kind of society have we created in which these sorts of shoes are allowed to be worn without ridicule?
These shoes deserve to be ridiculed, but they also deserve to be praised because they are interesting. When we saw these shoes we perked up and were like "WTF?"
That's a good feeling. Eric Bailly's jelly shoes distracted us from the monotony of everyday life for a tiny bit, and we can't thank him enough for wearing them.
