Thursday night’s wild game between the United States men’s national team and Mexico ended prematurely due to Mexican fans repeated homophobic chanting. The 3-0 win for U.S. was a bit overshadowed by the actions off the field, however one fan has won the hearts of the internet.
When Ricardo Pepi scored to make it 3-0 in the 78th minute the cameras showed a young boy celebrating wildly. The part that had fans cracking up was that the boy had on a U.S. jersey but a Mexico headband.
The boy quickly removed his Mexico attire, kissed the U.S. badge and continued celebrating.

Hilarious.
It’s not uncommon to see youngsters who support where they live (the U.S. in this instance) while also cheering on the country their parents are from. So, we don’t want to hear any nonsense about this kid being a bandwagon, he’s more than justified to root for whichever team he wants.
In his case he wins no matter which team comes out on top.
For a game that ended ugly, it’s nice to still see some wholesome and humorous moments.
Mexico will face Panama on Sunday in the third-place game while the USMNT will look to defend their Nations League title against Canada later that day.
