Chicharito gets the news that no soccer player wants to hear – he's out for the rest of the season

2023 has been a disastrous year for LA Galaxy. The team sits last in the MLS Western Conference and was recently kicked out of the US Open Cup. On top of that, their staff doctors told the squad on Friday that captain and main striker, Javier Hernández, will miss the rest of the season due to an ACL injury.

Oh, rats!

Chicharito knee injury

Hernández was subbed off during a match between LA Galaxy and Real Salt Lake for the US Open Cup last Wednesday after falling to the ground without being touched by an opponent.

Once the game ended, Chicharito thanked the doctors who assisted him and the fans who cheered for him while he was being stretchered from the field. He also shared that he suffered a knee injury and was waiting for the final diagnosis.

That final diagnosis arrived on Friday and the result was not the one he was expecting: "Forward Javier "Chicharito" Hernández sustained a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his right knee," informed LA Galaxy in a press release. "Hernández will undergo surgery on a date to be determined to begin the rehabilitation process."

The statement didn't say how long it will take to see him again on the field, but it's common knowledge that soccer players take between 6 to 9 months to return from an ACL injury.

Ergo, we are not seeing Chicharito playing until 2024.
