Kylian Mbappe Backheel Assist To Antoine Griezmann Is Too Much Filth For One Man

France turned on the style in the second half to thump Iceland 4-0 in Paris, making it two wins from two matches in Euro 2020 qualifying for the world champion. Three days ago, it was Antoine Griezmann, Kylian Mbappe, Olivier Giroud and Raphael Varane on the scoresheet in France’s 4-1 victory over Moldova, and it was the same three attackers that again scored today, but instead of Varane, it was defensive partner Samuel Umtiti amongst the goals.

With les Bleus wearing a special edition jersey to celebrate 100 years of the French Football Federation, it was the Barcelona center back who opened the scoring in the 12th minute following a delightful cross from Mbappe.

This was Umtiti’s first goal for France since his header against Belgium in the semifinals of the World Cup. He celebrated with the same sassy strut that captivated the world last July.

France was made to wait until the 68th minute for its second, but up popped Giroud to turn home another great cross, this one from Benjamin Pavard. Giroud is now third all time on France’s goalscoring chart, moving ahead of David Trezeguet.

The third goal arrived 10 minutes later after Griezmann played through Mbappe and the 20-year-old poked home.

France was truly flowing now, and the fourth goal was stunning. Mbappe provided his second assist of the night with a glorious backheel, and Griezmann applied a delicate finish.

France returns to qualifying in June with a difficult away trip to Turkey followed by a visit to Andorra. Will they be wearing the special edition jerseys again? I sure hope so.
