Cristiano Ronaldo Hit With Five-Game Ban For Shoving Referee

In 24 minutes of Spanish Super Cup action on Sunday, Cristiano Ronaldo accomplished what many could never achieve over the course of their entire careers. The mercurial forward has always shown an appetite for amassing marks of renown, but Sunday’s first leg at the Camp Nou had something for everyone in the spectrum of The Cristiano Ronaldo Experience.

What a goal.

What a celebration (classic shirtless Ronaldo + obviously mocking Lionel Messi).

Clearly some inspiration behind this celebration.

And finally, it wouldn't be a vintage CR7 performance without copious amounts of fuel for the haters and Real Madrid ultimately winning.

Ronaldo’s red card would’ve seen him suspended for the return leg of the Spanish Super Cup, his decision to shove referee De Burgos Bengoetxea in the back has seen the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) hit the Portuguese forward with an additional four games, meaning that Ronaldo will miss league matches against Deportivo La Coruna, Valencia, Levante and Real Sociedad.

Ronaldo’s next league appearance wouldn’t come until September 20 against Real Betis. Real Madrid have 10 days to appeal the decision, but four matches represents the minimum suspension for Ronaldo’s actions as stipulated by the RFEF’s disciplinary code.

If last season taught us anything, Ronaldo’s extended summer break means that he’ll once again be rested and tearing things up come April/May. It's all part of The Cristiano Ronaldo Experience.
