Newport County Continues Its Recent Trend Of Improbable Cup Runs With Carabao Cup Upset

On paper, Watford traveled to southeast Wales on Tuesday as overwhelming favorite over Newport County in their third-round League Cup tie. Watford was a Premier League club last season, while Newport County was a middling League Two side. What the Hornets failed to account for though was Newport's penchant for upsetting upper-league opposition in cup competitions.

Marching On Together: How England's Most Divisive Club Went From A Champions League Semi To League One And Back

Leeds United was 90 minutes away from the 2001 Champions League Final.

A lively first leg in the semifinal ended goalless. Leeds had plenty of opportunities in the second half, but the club was happy to earn a home shutout against Valencia in an evenly contested match.

The task ahead was formidable, though. Valencia was unbeaten in its last 17 European Cup matches at the Estadio Mestalla, and the Spanish side was Champions League runner-up the previous season.

FA Cup Replays Scrapped Next Season And Prize Fund Dramatically Reduced

The tournament was suspended at the quarterfinal stage due to the COVID-19 outbreak in March and will now resume three weeks into the 2020-21 women's domestic season.

Chelsea Pounces On David De Gea Errors To Book FA Cup Final Place

Chelsea beat Manchester United 3-1 on Sunday to book their place in an all-London FA Cup final, helped by two errors from United goalkeeper David de Gea and an own goal by Harry Maguire.

Chelsea, who will face city rivals Arsenal in the Aug. 1 showpiece, had lost to United three times this season but looked brighter from the start at Wembley and took control with goals either side of halftime from Olivier Giroud and Mason Mount.

Mikel Arteta Hopes Wins Over 'Two Best Teams In Europe' Convince Aubameyang To Stay

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta says their 2-0 victory against Manchester City in the FA Cup semifinal on Saturday could convince striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to commit his future to the north London club.

Aubameyang, 31, scored in either half to fire Arsenal past holders City at an empty Wembley.

Aubameyang, the club's top scorer this season with 25 goals in all competitions, is out of contract at the end of next season and has not yet agreed to an extension.
