If all goes according to plan, Saturday will have marked the dawn of a new era in women's professional soccer in the United States. The Washington Spirit defeated the Houston Dash, 2-0, and one of the goals came courtesy of ultra-talented 19-year-old Mallory Pugh.
Pugh, who is already a senior United States international, spurned UCLA earlier this year to turn pro and play for the Spirit. She is seen as the future face of U.S. women's soccer, and you can see why in the above video. In addition to her goal, Pugh showed how dynamic she can be with the ball at her feet, orchestrating several good attacks.
In the near future, Mallory Pugh will almost certainly be one of the best players in the NWSL. She has already showed she can play in this league, and she will only get better.
