You may remember previous iterations of Cristiano Ronaldo statues, including but not necessarily limited to the one that's really happy to see you and the one that may or may not be Frankenstein's monster. For all Cristiano's charms, he just can't seem to catch a break as far as getting a statue that actually looks like him. Until now.
Spanish sculptor Jose Antonio Navarro Arteaga has submitted the latest Cristiano Ronaldo statue offering, with a bust that will reside at Santiago Bernabeu stadium. And, you know what, it doesn't look half-bad!
Arteaga told El Mundo that he wanted to reflect Ronaldo's "interior strength" displayed, for example, when CR7 is about to take a free kick. The bust certainly looks focused, although maybe a little too focused. Given that sculpting is really, really hard, it's tough to pick nits here. Arteaga has come closer than anyone to capturing Cristiano's likeness in statue form, although for entertainment purposes I prefer the previous attempts.
Is it a coincidence that the same weekend Ronaldo got a bust that actually resembles him, he ended his La Liga goal drought? I suppose that depends on whether you believe in coincidences.
