Youth Soccer

Across the United States, trans inclusion in sports has been a major topic of discussion. As of May 2022, 18 states had either enacted laws or issued rules limiting or outright banning transgender athletes from participating in youth sports such as soccer. Even if you hate her politics, you might actually agree with how Megan Rapinoe feels about transgender athletes. 

Normally at this time, we’d be inundated with soccer 24/7. The men’s World Cup has been held in the summer every four years since 1930, with only two missed dates in the 1940s for World War II. This year, however, we’ve got to wait until November for the World Cup to begin. After a June men’s international window and ahead of a women’s international window, we’re at a bit of a dearth in soccer action around the world. 

World soccer's governing body FIFA and World Athletics said on Monday that they are reviewing their transgender eligibility policies, after swimming passed new rules that restrict transgender participation in women's events.

Yannick Dbumeni-Ndaleu, a 21-year-old soccer player born Cameroon playing in the U.S. third division for Maryland Bobcats FC, died Monday trying to help a father save his drowning child off the coast of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. 

Last summer, Olivia Moultrie set the record as the youngest player in NWSL history, making her Portland Thorns debut at the tender age of 15. Before she could even legally drive, Moultrie was starting — and making an impact — in the world’s toughest league. On Sunday night, Moultrie became the NWSL youngest goal scorer in a 4-0 romp over the Houston Dash.
