The United States suffered another disappointing result this week, drawing against Honduras 1-1 in their third international friendly since the World Cup. The USMNT beat the Czech Republic 1-0 in early September and drew against Ecuador 1-1 last Friday. 

A day before their loss, Jurgen Klinsmann had some choice words regarding his two stars, Clint Dempsey and Michael Bradley, returning to MLS. Before making the move back stateside, Dempsey was playing for Premier League squad Tottenham Hotspur while Bradley was in Italy playing for AS Roma. 

Landon Donovan played his last game for the USMNT Friday.

He’s the greatest U.S. soccer player to ever live. He has scored countless goals wearing the red white and blue. 57 to be exact, some more meaningful than others, but when the U.S. needed a goal, you knew the man wearing number 10 was going to give it to you. 

Landon Donovan and Jonathan Klinsmann are in some sort of squabble, and the media is making a big thing out of it.

The USMNT has drawn into group A of the 2014 CONCACAF Women’s Championship and will play Guatemala, Haiti and Trinidad & Tobago. The group consists of Mexico, Jamaica, Costa Rica and Martinique. 

It's been clear since Jürgen Klinsmann's final selection of the USMNT for Brazil 2014 - and, infamously, his exclusion of American star Landon Donovan - that he has an eye to the future. And that future is building U.S. Soccer into a powerhouse. 

We can now sit back and take a breath after the 2014 World Cup gave us over a month of breathtaking goals, rabid Uruguayans, draws that felt like losses, losses that felt like wins, and record-breaking television ratings in the United States. While certain of those memories will stay with us for weeks and even years to come, the question now has to be asked: where does soccer go from here in the United States? Is this truly the time when soccer will “break through” and join its place in the upper-echelon of major sports in the United States?

We can't get enough of this. Last week, twelve-year old Jordan Johansen signed with DC United, while the Seattle Sounders picked up eighteen-year old Xander Bailey. The signings, courtesy of the Make-A-Wish Foundation and Major League Soccer, gave both young soccer fans a chance to join their favorite teams for a few days.
