MLS expansion fee enters the stratosphere — who can afford it?

Major League Soccer's ambition of being a true player in the world's club game by the 2026 World Cup is slowly being realized.

The league's 28th season kicks off Saturday with a new team (St. Louis City SC), a new 10-year partnership with Apple TV (worth $250M per season) that's available in over 100 countries and Tuesday's announcement of a three-year extension with Audi that pays a multimillion-dollar fee annually.

Not so fast USMNT fans! Alejando Zendejas still deciding between playing for Mexico or the U.S.

Alejandro Zendejas’ telenovela has become the U.S. and Mexico’s mini-headache over the last year and just when we thought he had decided to play for the USMNT after his call-up this year, reports are saying otherwise. Ay, Zendejas!

Leeds USA have a new manager — can he lead the Americans out of the relegation zone?

Leeds United have agreed terms to appoint former Valencia and Watford head coach Javi Gracia as their new manager on a 'flexible contract' to replace Jesse Marsch, the Premier League club said on Tuesday.

American Marsch was sacked on Feb. 6 after a poor run of form left the club in a relegation battle.

Leeds are 19th in the standings with 19 points from 23 games and face bottom club Southampton on Saturday.

Valencia are in full-on panic mode with relegation looming large

Valencia's season plummeted to historically low depths on Monday after a 1-0 defeat at Getafe left Los Che on just 20 points from 22 matches, good for 19th-place in LaLiga and two points from safety.

USWNT vs. Japan player ratings: 3 players who excelled, 2 who didn't

An excellent finish from Mallory Swanson was the difference in the USWNT's 1-0 SheBelieves Cup win over Japan on Sunday at GEODIS Park in Nashville. Japan caused all sorts of issues in disrupting the U.S. buildup while launching 15 shots compared to only five for the Americans.

The U.S. played with fire at the back and the midfield didn't establish any sort of dominance, but the team showed exactly what makes them so difficult to beat even when they're not at their best: an unmatched fighting spirit mixed with individuals who can provide the difference at any moment.

Jordan Pefok’s Union Berlin are serious contenders for the Bundesliga title

After Bayern Munich’s loss against Mönchengladbach on Saturday, a win for second-place Union Berlin against Schalke on Sunday could make Jordan Pefok's team league-leaders with a two-point gap.

If you’ve lived under a rock for the first half of the European season — or just completely disregard anything happening in the Bundesliga (rightfully so after 10 straight league titles for Bayern) — you’re probably not aware that Union Berlin actually has a shot at the title this season.

Tyler Adams and Weston McKennie throw Everton’s Dwight McNeil into ad boards during skirmish

Tyler Adams and Weston McKennie don’t play around. The American duo is quickly becoming the most ruthless and brutal midfield pair in the Premier League. The latest Leeds Everton fight during Saturday’s EPL meeting was another example of this.

Moments before halftime Adams and Luke Ayling did well to dispossess Dwight McNeil near the corner flag. While Adams was dribbling away McNeil put in a hard foul on the American.

Barcelona makes Julian Araujo transfer from LA Galaxy to official

Barcelona signed Mexican defender Julian Araujo from MLS side LA Galaxy in a deal until 2026, both clubs said on Friday.

Barcelona missed out on signing Araujo on transfer deadline day as they were 18 seconds late in registering the paperwork, and said they would appeal to Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in a bid to get the player registered.

Araujo has signed a three and a half year contract until the end of the 2025-26 season, Barcelona said, adding that the 21-year-old will join the club's B team.

Chelsea ready to part ways with Christian Pulisic confirms top soccer journalist Fabrizio Romano

Christian Pulisic will leave Chelsea this summer if a team makes the right offer confirmed soccer guru and journalist Fabrizio Romano.

While Pulisic’s Chelsea contract runs until June 2024, the London club is ready to let him go and could ask for a transfer with a price tag in the $35 to $40 million range.

The replacement for Captain America is already in the squad as Chelsea signed Ukrainian left winger Mykhailo Mudryk from Shakhtar Donetsk for around $75 million in January. Had it not been for a knee injury, Pulisic likely would have been sold in January.
