Relegation is coming to the US, but don't expect to see Messi in the USL Championship next year

Major League Soccer is preparing to enter a new era following the arrival of the Greatest Of All Time, but the wall-to-wall coverage of Lionel Messi's movements in Miami has been momentarily broken by a seismic shift from America's second division, the USL.

Why not Guadeloupe? The case for the French overseas department to win the Gold Cup

One of the best subplots to follow throughout the course of a Concacaf Gold Cup is the evolving power rankings of the nations looking to end the United States and Mexico's hegemony of the region.

And with the USMNT sending a B Team under the direction of an interim manager and El Tri in disarray with their own interim boss, this summer looked as good a time as any for the likes of Canada and Jamaica to strive for glory.

Tata Martino says that Lionel Messi’s time at Miami won’t be a vacation

Lionel Messi and Sergio Busquets are joining Inter Miami to compete, not for a holiday, the newly appointed coach of the Major League Soccer (MLS) side Gerardo Martino said.

The 60-year-old coached Messi and Busquets at Barcelona in 2013-14 before managing Argentina from 2014-16.

Record seven-time Ballon d'Or winner Messi, 36, opted not to renew his contract with Ligue 1 champions Paris St Germain and will be reunited with former Barca teammate Busquets, who spent 18 years at Camp Nou.

139th-ranked Saint Kitts and Nevis reach Gold Cup group stage for the first time

History was made Tuesday night at DRV PNK Stadium, the future home of Lionel Messi, as Saint Kitts and Nevis defeated French Guiana in a penalty shootout to advance to the Concacaf Gold Cup group stage for the first time ever.

The Sugar Boyz — ranked 139th in the world — got themselves to the Gold Cup qualifying prelims in Fort Lauderdale by topping their group in Nations League C, but they had to get by Curaçao (a 2019 quarterfinalist) in the semifinals last Friday (which went to a penalty shootout) before Tuesday night's dramatics against French Guiana.

Senegal put FOUR past Brazil as Sadio Mané scores a brace

Brazil's legendary national team has played 89 different countries over the course of its storied history but only two nations have managed to face the Seleção without tasting defeat. Norway, surprisingly, has a record of two wins and two draws against Brazil (including a famous victory at the '98 World Cup), and the other nation actually beat them on Tuesday: Senegal.

Spain win shootout to deny Luka Modrić and Croatia in Nations League final

ROTTERDAM - Serial winner Dani Carvajal converted the decisive spot-kick to hand Spain a first title in more than a decade as they edged Croatia 5-4 in a penalty shootout to win the Nations League in Rotterdam on Sunday.

The 31-year-old, who has won five Champions League titles with Real Madrid, calmly chipped home Spain’s sixth kick of the shootout as they claimed their first silverware since the 2012 European Championship.

All signs point to Canada winning the Concacaf Nations League

In the grand history of Concacaf, there's never before been a tournament where our gladiators have entered the arena and spectators have murmured amongst each other: "See them there? Them's Canada. They're going to slaughter everyone."

At least not since Craig Forrest was standing between the sticks.

Wrexham's USA summer tour dates, opponents and locations

NEW YORK — Wrexham will conclude their United States tour in co-owner Rob McElhenney's hometown of Philadelphia, with a match against Major League Soccer (MLS) affiliate team Philadelphia Union II on July 28.

Jarrod Bowen scores dramatic 90th minute winner to win West Ham the Europa Conference League

Jarrod Bowen scored in the 90th minute as West Ham United secured a last-gasp 2-1 victory over Fiorentina in the Europa Conference League final on Wednesday to clinch a first major European trophy in over half a century.

Bowen goal vs Fiorentina

The match at Prague's Eden Arena looked like it was heading to extra time when Lucas Paqueta slipped a ball through to Bowen who outpaced the defenders and fired home past a sprawling Fiorentina keeper.

Amateur club Newtown Pride wins $1 million championship game at TST

The inaugural edition of The Soccer Tournament (TST) ended Sunday with Newtown Pride FC — an amateur club out of Sandy Hook, Connecticut — deservedly claiming the $1 million dollar prize with a 2-0 victory over Sports Leagues Canada FC.

Newtown actually turned out to be the closest thing to a professional team at TST since the actual "big clubs" were only rag-tag collections of potbellied, middle-aged men and social media influences (Borussia Dortmund sucked farts while Wolves, West Ham and Necaxa all fell in the group stage).
