The 2021 Africa Cup of Nations begins Sunday, Jan. 9, with 24 nations vying for the continental championship. Before a ball is even kicked, we can tell you one area in which AFCON is going to better than last summer's Gold Cup, Copa América and European Championship tournaments: the jerseys.

With 17 different brands on show, there are some real classics from heavy hitters like PUMA and Nike but also some gems from Ireland's Masita, France's Airness and Italy's Macron. 

There's a giant question mark looming over the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations, scheduled to take place between Jan. 9 and Feb. 6, with CAF president Patrice Motsepe arriving in the host nation of Cameroon on Monday for critical talks with the government to assess its readiness to host the tournament. 

For many Millennials, the 2006 World Cup represents the zenith of football nostalgia. As teenagers with little meaningful responsibility, we spent that summer month locked into ESPN, agonizing over the United States’ failure, delighting in the majesty of Zinedine Zidane and watching the legendary adidas “José +10” commercial hundreds of times.

I still don’t understand how they got Der Kaiser out there.

We’re almost halfway through “the Ocho” in CONCACAF World Cup qualifying and as Mexico remains undefeated through six matches, it’s safe to say we’ll see El Tri in Qatar. 

But how can Mexico break the curse and finally reach that elusive “quinto partido”?

There doesn’t seem to be much of a reason behind this collaboration between AC/DC and Umbro, but who needs one when the final products look like this.

According to the Umbro press release, the inspiration is an AC/DC show at the Glasgow Apollo on April 30, 1978. This was shortly before Scotland’s appearance at the 1978 World Cup in Argentina, and the band performed their encore wearing the Scotland ’78 jersey.
