Barcelona makes Julian Araujo transfer from LA Galaxy to official

Barcelona signed Mexican defender Julian Araujo from MLS side LA Galaxy in a deal until 2026, both clubs said on Friday.

Barcelona missed out on signing Araujo on transfer deadline day as they were 18 seconds late in registering the paperwork, and said they would appeal to Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in a bid to get the player registered.

Araujo has signed a three and a half year contract until the end of the 2025-26 season, Barcelona said, adding that the 21-year-old will join the club's B team.

Czech Republic international Jakub Jankto comes out as gay

Czech Republic international Jakub Jankto announced on Monday that he is gay, saying he wants to live his life “in freedom.”

Jankto, who plays for Sparta Prague on loan from LaLiga side Getafe, made his international debut in 2017.

The 27-year-old, who has 45 caps, is the highest profile current male footballer to publicly come out as gay.

Real Madrid and Al-Hilal score EIGHT goals combined as Madrid wins fifth Club World Cup

Real Madrid defeated Al-Hilal 5-3 in the Club World Cup final on Saturday to be crowned world champions. Madrid’s front three of Karim Benzema, Federico Valverde and Vinícius Jr. were at their best and scored all of Madrid’s goals.

Al-Hilal became the first club from Saudi Arabia to make the Club World Cup final and didn’t give Real Madrid an easy time. No club outside of Europe and South America has ever won the competition and that streak lives on.

Al-Hilal never led in the game but managed to keep things interesting for the 90 minutes.

Brazil willing to wait as they target Carlo Ancelotti for manager position

The Brazilian Football Association (CBF) will wait until the end of the 2022-23 European season to fill the vacant Brazil manager position with Real Madrid's Carlo Ancelotti their main target.

Following the exit of manager Tite after their World Cup quarterfinal penalty defeat by Croatia, CBF president Ednaldo Rodrigues told a news conference in November that he wanted to find his replacement between January and February.
