Scotland national team and Celtic captain Scott Brown announced his retirement from international competition on August 19th. However, the pit bullish midfielder retires from Scotland manager Gordon Strachan’s side having left behind some famous memories for supporters of the Tartan Army. While he’s still busy cementing his legacy in Glasgow’s East End, this is the perfect moment to highlight some of the 31 year olds finer achievements. 

Here are some of the finest highlights from Brown’s 50 appearances for Scotland as well as his most notable moments for Celtic:

Leigh Griffiths played like a man possessed (as did Kolo Toure) during Celtic’s 5-2 victory over Hapoel Be’er Sheva in their first-leg Champions League playoff victory at Celtic Park. The Scottish striker almost willed Celtic into the Champions League group stage with two goals and an assist on the night.

As Celtic prepare to play Israeli side Hapoel Be’er Sheva at Celtic Park in UEFA Champions League playoff action on Wednesday night, some of the club’s supporters plan to give the visitors a rather awkward welcome — by waving the flag of Palestine.

It's over and done. Kolo Toure has left Liverpool, and he isn't coming back. He's gone to Celtic, where he will presumably get way more playing time and become the most entertaining player in green and white since Thomas Gravesen left.

Riyad Mahrez scored a brilliant goal for Leicester City during their preseason friendly against Celtic, but Arsenal are reportedly set to sign the 25-year-old Algerian in the upcoming days.

New Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers is an eternal optimist, but it will be hard for him to find positives in his first competitive game with the Scottish club, as Celtic were beaten, 1-0, in the Champions League by Gibraltarian side Lincoln Red Imps. Seriously.

Lincoln Red Imps manager Roy Chipolina is also a customs officer and left work in mid-afternoon to get to the game.

At 24, Nir Bitton already stars for Glasgow giants Celtic in Scotland and for the Israeli national team. But his best is most certainly ahead of him. Despite recently signing a five-year contract extension to remain with Celtic through 2020, Bitton is reportedly drawing interest from a number of English Premier League clubs, including Sunderland. They will have to pay big for his services: Celtic have reportedly priced him at £10 million.
