The18's Serie A Predictions For 2022-23 Season

European soccer leagues are back and the Serie A will definitely be one to watch. This season in particular will be perhaps the most competitive in the last decade. With Juventus being kicked off its nine-year Scudetto winning streak by Inter Milan in 2021, AC Milan winning its first league title in 11 years last season and AS Roma coming off its historic European trophy winning season, the Italian calcio is making a comeback. So what better time for some Serie A predictions?

There's Being Excited For The Season And Then There's Roma Right Now

Hypothetically speaking, if you could only watch one club in Europe this season from a neutral's perspective, I don't think you could find anything more dramatic or exciting than the current build of AS Roma.

The hype started last season with the return of José Mourinho to Italy, where he enjoys an unblemished reputation on the strength of his remarkable two-year period with Inter Milan. The 59-year-old didn't disappoint during his first year in Rome by landing the club's first major trophy (the inaugural Conference League) since 2008.

For Some Reason, Man Proposes To Girlfriend In Front Of José Mourinho

On today’s episode of “Fans Do The Darndest Things,” an AS Roma supporter has included José Mourinho in his marriage proposal.

No, we’re not sure why, but you can watch for yourself as Mourinho has no clue what’s going on before the fan gets on one knee.

New Paulo Dybala Transfer to Roma Shocks Juventus Fans

Seven seasons after joining the club, Paulo Dybala has completed his move away from Juventus. He will be playing for AS Roma following months of speculation and near guarantees that he would be moving to Inter Milan. But what happened? How did this beautiful marriage fall apart and crumble so quickly and so catastrophically?

Serie A Makes History And Appoints League's First Ever Female Referee

Italy's Serie A has appointed Maria Sole Ferrieri Caputi for the 2022-23 season as its first female referee.

The 31-year-old Ferrieri Caputi became the first female to referee a match involving a Serie A team last year — Cagliari’s Italian Cup clash with Cittadella.

She will now referee a top-flight match for the first time next term after joining the league's officiating team on Friday.

The Mourinho School Of Sh*thousery Has A New Graduate

Since signing for Roma in August, Tammy Abraham has undergone nothing short of a resurgence. The former Chelsea player scored 27 goals in all competitions for Jose Mourinho’s side, and many credit the Portuguese manager for his development as a player.

34-Year-Old Rui Patrício Makes Unbelievable Full-Stretch Save To Secure Roma’s First European Trophy

José Mourinho made history on Wednesday when his Roma side became the first club to win the Europa Conference League defeating Feyenoord 1-0. He’s now the only manager in history to win all three of Europe’s tournaments and he can give a big thanks to goalkeeper Rui Patrício for making a massive save to keep his side ahead on Wednesday.

Rui Patrício was nearly written off as a goalkeeper heading into the 2021-22 season. The previous season he had been anything but consistent with Wolves and left for Roma after one of his worst seasons (51 goals conceded in 37 games).

The Jersey Report No. 2: What In Hell Is Juventus Wearing Next Season?

Roma vs. Bodo/Glimt Is The Unexpected Contender To Become The Next Great European Rivalry

In European soccer, as with most sports, rivalries are usually established by proximity — two clubs, a few miles apart, battle for control of the city. Sometimes these teams come from competing cities or even rival regions.

This season there is a rivalry that destroys every preconceived geographic boundary. Instead of coming from two sides of the same country, these clubs hail from opposite ends of the continent.
