Fights break out after Thierry Henry’s France best Argentina in Olympic quarterfinal

PARIS — Hosts France reached the Olympic men's football semi-finals for the first time in 40 years with a 1-0 win over Argentina thanks to Jean-Philippe Mateta's first-half goal in a grudge match in Bordeaux on Friday.

France will face Egypt for a place in the final and Morocco meet Spain in the other semi.

Cesc Fabregas gets first big head coaching gig in Serie A with newly promoted Como 1907

Spaniard Cesc Fabregas has been appointed as head coach of Como, where he is a minority shareholder, after leading them to promotion to Serie A as assistant and interim coach last season, the club said on Friday.

Former Arsenal, Barcelona and Chelsea midfielder Fabregas ended his playing career at Como in 2023 and became an assistant coach at the club. The 37-year-old took over as interim coach in November after head coach Moreno Longo was fired.

Reports: LA Galaxy closing in on signing Borussia Dortmund legend Marco Reus

Marco Reus could be coming to Major League Socccer this summer. According to reports from top soccer journalists Tom Bogert and Fabrizio Romano, the Borussia Dortmund legend is closing in on a move to the Los Angeles Galaxy.

Reus departed Borussia Dortmund at the end of last season after 12 years with the German giants. Now the 35-year-old seems to have his eyes set on the final chapter of his career with California being a likely destination.

Final details are being discussed and the transfer would be free.
