The rumors aren’t true, the NWSL is definitely not dead. Although many familiar faces have decided to take their talents overseas, the NWSL Fall Series is heading into its third weekend of games and the highlight reel is growing.
OL Reign rookie defender Madison Hammond uses her platform to inspire, change and raise awareness, and she really has wasted no time with her new professional status. Hammond was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where she grew up in the Navajo and San Felipe Pueblo tribe. She grew up practicing ceremonial days and adopted customs of her native tribe for most of her childhood.
Then when she turned 9 she moved to Alexandria, Virginia, where her environment was much different than what it was in New Mexico.
In a matchup of the last two NWSL clubs to lift a trophy, the N.C. Courage once again showed they’re the best in the league. The 2019 NWSL champions rallied late to beat the Challenge Cup winners 4-3 in a match that actually upstaged the Liverpool-Leeds game as the most entertaining 90 minutes of action on Saturday.

The sale of the Real Salt Lake soccer team, Rio Tinto Stadium and associated properties is expected to bring at least $500 million, the Sports Business Journal reported Thursday.
Real Salt Lake owner Dell Loy Hansen announced Aug. 30 that he is seeking to sell Utah Soccer Holdings, which owns the Major League Soccer club, the Utah Royals FC of the National Women's Soccer League, Real Monarchs of the United Soccer League and the 20,200-seat venue in Sandy, Utah.
Yūki Nagasato has done just about everything. She’s won a Women’s World Cup, an Olympic silver medal and a UEFA Champions League title. She’s played club ball in her home country of Japan, Germany, England, the U.S. and Australia, winning league titles in Japan and England.
Now Nagasato’s aiming for something a little different: playing for a men’s team.

Despite the NWSL doing just about everything in its power to remain relevant during a global pandemic, star players continue to flee for Europe. On Wednesday, it was Tobin Heath and Christen Press who ditched the NWSL for greener pastures in England, signing with Manchester United of the FA Women’s Super League.
Once again, the NWSL is back. And once again, it returned with a fantastic 2-1 match full of drama and excitement. In the end, Mal Pugh assisted on a 92nd-minute winner to help win her Sky Blue FC debut against the Washington Spirit on Saturday at Segra Field.
So the 2019-20 season was a mess, we all know that. On top of everything else that had been cancelled or postponed, we added the Tokyo Olympics to that list. Once upon a time, they were set to take off July 24, 2020.
Why is this so important, you ask? Well, that was supposed to be the date the USWNT returned to play. With the Games now being postponed until July 2021, we have a while before these badass ladies return to the pitch.
