Netherlands manager Frank de Boer has drawn some criticism after refusing to allow his players to undertake medicals needed to complete transfers until after the Euros. 

After six years away, Blackpool FC is back in the Championship.

Blackpool conceded the earliest goal ever scored in a League One Playoff Final through an own goal by Ollie Turton just 50 seconds into the game. 

Turton's blushes would be spared by the most unlikely of heroes as teammate Kenny Dougall, who had scored two goals in his last 82 games, bagged a brace to secure playoff glory for Blackpool. 

MADRID - Zinedine Zidane said on Monday he had stepped down as Real Madrid coach as the club's hierarchy did not have enough faith in him to rebuild an aging squad.

Zidane, who returned to Real for a second spell in charge in March 2019, won two LaLiga titles and three Champions League crowns during his two stints as coach.

ROME — Inter Milan coach Antonio Conte has terminated his contract one year early just days after leading them to their first Serie A title in 11 years, the club said on Wednesday.

Conte, who joined Inter in May 2019, agreed to depart after Italian media reported he had been left unhappy with plans to reduce investment and cut costs due to the financial impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

LONDON — Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold earned a recall in a 33-man provisional England squad for Euro 2020 on Tuesday as manager Gareth Southgate played for time before whittling the numbers down.

The right-back was dropped in March for World Cup qualifiers but he made the cut in a squad that will be reduced to 26 players ahead of a June 1 UEFA deadline.
