Diego Maradona Is A Gigantic Hypocrite

We're going to preface this article by saying this: Diego Maradona was a great player and is one of the legends of the game. Good, now that that's out of the way, Diego Maradona is a huge hypocrite.

In A World Cup Without Messi, Who Could Become The Next World Star?

The Russia 2018 World Cup may be a somewhat sad and empty affair. Lionel Messi announced his retirement from the Argentina National Team (whether he means it or not remains to be seen), Zlatan Ibrahimovic has officially retired from Sweden, Cristiano Ronaldo will be 33 and Wayne Rooney will be 32. The traditional stars of the world's game are fading away, and Russia will probably be the first tournament where that truly sinks in.

Boateng Jumps Germany Out Front With His First International Goal

It is surprising that it took Boateng 7 years to get on the score sheet for the German national team but he got his first tally in a very important knockout game vs Slovakia. As a cross was rebounded out, Boateng came striding in to hit the ball straight on. It was a great connection that beat the Slovakian goalie bottom left. On to the quarter finals!! This isn't the only big moment Boateng has had for Germany this Euros. What can we expect against Italy next?

Antoine Griezmann Scores Double, Ties Bale And Morata For Goals

For almost an hour, this match was essentially one long double take at the scoreboard with Ireland leading 1-0 through Robbie Brady’s second minute penalty. The Boys in Green played admirably but came undone when French hero Antoine Griezmann powered home a header in the 57 minute. Griezmann quickly added to his total with the go ahead goal in the 61 minute.

Shane Duffy was sent off for denying Griezmann a clear goal scoring opportunity in the 66 minute, and France rarely looked troubled as they saw out the game in Lyon.

Nainggolan Sends Zlatan And Sweden Packing

As Sweden failed to find the back of the net for the 2nd straight game, their looming elimination became a reality in the 84th minute when Nainggolan packed their bags for them with a screamer. With many chances getting denied in their group stage run, the only goal they scored was actually an own goal by the Irish. It was a bummer to see such a legend like Zlatan go out without a win in his final major international tournament but Belgium made them pay. A beautiful moment of Zlatan playing his last game in yellow and blue is the end of an era.

Northern Ireland Survive German Siege To Keep Tournament Hopes Alive, Despite Losing 1-0

Northern Ireland vs. Germany finished 1-0 in favor of Die Mannschaft, but it could have been so much worse.

Germany could have ended the first half 5-0 in front, but Northern Ireland held on, thanks in large part to the performance of goalkeeper Michael McGovern, who made seven magnificent saves throughout the match.

The result sees Germany top Group C, while Northern Ireland's ability to keep the score down means they are very much still alive in this competition.

Turkey Smash Czechs Out Of Euro 2016, But It May Be Too Little, Too Late

The Czech Republic vs. Turkey kicked off with both teams needing to win in order to give themselves a chance to progress.

An opening goal from Burak Yilmaz, followed by a rocket from Ozan Tufan gave Turkey a 2-0 victory, knocking the Czechs out of the competition.

Despite the win, it may not be enough for Turkey to progress, as they sit third with three points and a goal differential of negative two.

Perisic Buries Spain With A Late Winner

Potentially one of the biggest roller coaster games to take place in the Euros so far, Spain v. Croatia was a thriller. A 1-1 deadlock would have been broken if Sergio Ramos would have been able to convert from the spot but failed to do so as Danijel Subasic made a strong save to keep Croatia alive. Momentum shifts were evident throughout the game but in the end it was Croatia with the higher inensity and energy that won them the game and Group D.

"I Hope Puma Don't Produce Condoms," Says Xherdan Shaqiri After Four Swiss Jerseys Tear During Match

If you happened to watch Switzerland grind out a 0-0 draw with France on Sunday, we're sorry. We're so very, very sorry.

It was a dull game, a fact which becomes all the more prevalent when you consider the fact most of the post-game analysis has been regarding the material of the Swiss team's Puma-produced jerseys.
