Unbelievable Week For Mexican Players In Europe: Goals, Assists And Trophies

Mexico's stars abroad are shining bright after an extraordinary week in European leagues.

With four goals, two assists and one title won over the weekend, Mexican fans can dream big going into the international break.

And so we thought it was worth compiling the best images and moments for Mexican players in Europe.

To begin with, Hirving "Chucky" Lozano scored once again in the Eredivisie. Chucky scored his 13th league goal for PSV in their 3-0 victory against Venio.

Lozano is tied in second place behind Fran Sol in the Eredivisie's top scorer table.

Which Player Is The Best At Scoring Four Goals In A Game?

Three footballers scored pokers (four goals in one match) this weekend in Europe's major leagues: Mohamed Salah for Liverpool, Cristiano Ronaldo for Real Madrid and Mauro Icardi for Inter Milan. You have to be an astoundingly good footballer to score four in a match in one of Europe top five leagues, but who was the most astoundingly good at being astoundingly good.

Who scored four goals in one match with the most flair, the most panache? Who won the poker hand, as it were? Ante up, let's figure it out.

Watch Miguel Layún Score His First Goal For Sevilla

Miguel Layún scored his first goal for Sevilla in his team's defeat against Leganés.

Questioned about his performances in recent weeks, Layún is finally showing signs of adaptation and getting back in form.

The Mexican international arrived in Sevilla a few months ago after he was transferred from Porto.

In Portugal, Layún had some excellent moments. For instance, he became one of Europe's players with most assists in 2016.

Mo Salah Drops Miguel Britos Like Lionel Messi Dropped Jerome Boateng

Liverpool crushed Watford 5-0 on Saturday with Mohamed Salah leading the way with four goals and an assist for the Reds. Salah’s goals brought him to the top of the charts in both the Premier League and European Golden Boot races with 28 domestic strikes.

It’s ridiculously absurd, but Salah is now averaging MORE than a goal per game in the Premier League. On average, it’s taking the Egyptian only 85 minutes per goal in the EPL — a statistic that’s frankly implausible.

14 Unstoppable Sebastian Giovinco Free Kicks In Four Minutes

With 14 goals from direct free kicks, Sebastian Giovinco is the all-time leader in MLS history. What’s even more remarkable is that it’s only taken three seasons of play for Giovinco to hit that mark.

Sombrero Flick Leads To Most Delicate Of 18-Yard Chips From Antoine Griezmann

Add another zero to Antoine Griezmann’s transfer fee. After the Atletico Madrid forward leads France to 2018 World Cup glory while winning the tournament’s Golden Boot, he will now cost either Barcelona, Manchester United or PSG roughly sixty-eight trillion dollars.

It’s a princely sum to pay, but as showcased here and on the evidence of last five years of European football, it’s totally worth it. The Greasy Spice is the man your club needs, the man your father wishes you were and the boyfriend everyone wishes they had.

Chivas Scored Two Very Rude Goals Against Seattle On Wednesday Night

Chivas defeated the Seattle Sounders 3-0 at the Estadio Akron Wednesday night in the second leg of their CONCACAF Champions League quarterfinal, comfortably overturning a 1-0 first leg deficit by the 55th minute. Oswaldo Alanis, Eduardo Lopez and Jose Godinez scored the goals to complete the semifinal bracket: it’s Chivas vs. the New York Red Bulls on one side and Club America vs. Toronto FC on the other.

Lionel Messi Achieves Perfection In Barca’s 3-0 Romp Over Chelsea

The attacking trifecta of Lionel Messi (two goals, one assist), Luis Suarez (two assists) and Ousmane Dembele (scorer of his first goal for Barca) combined to devastating effect to send Barcelona into the Champions League quarterfinals, 4-1 on aggregate over Chelsea.

Samuel Umtiti was the standout performer in Barca’s defense, and although Chelsea twice struck the woodwork, the 3-0 victory on the night was well deserved for the La Liga leaders.
