Sepp Blatter Accepts Putin Invitation To World Cup Despite Six-Year Ban From Football

Disgraced former FIFA President Sepp Blatter will attend two matches at the 2018 World Cup at the invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin despite, the former’s six-year ban from football on unethical conduct charges. 

Blatter will attend Wednesday’s match between Portugal and Morocco at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow before traveling to St. Petersburg to watch Brazil take on Costa Rica Friday. 

Russia Opens The Scoring At The 2018 FIFA World Cup

To the delight of 80,000 at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow, Russia has opened the scoring against Saudi Arabia in the 2018 World Cup’s curtain raiser. CSKA Moscow midfielder Aleksandr Golovin provided some excellent service from the left wing, and FC Krasnodar’s Yury Gazinsky directed his header beyond Abdullah Al-Mayouf to give Russia the lead in the 12th minute.

In the end, we did it. The joint bid of the United States, Mexico and Canada has been voted co-hosts of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, edging out a Morocco bid that caused everyone to nervously throw up in their mouths for a little while there. Apologies for the unpleasantness, but good grief. After losing out to Qatar in 2022, the worst was certainly feared here.

FIFA Just Dropped The Music Video For The World Cup Anthem

With every World Cup comes a new anthem produced for it. In recent years we’ve had Shakira and Pitbull, but this anthem just doesn’t have the same star power as those. The 2018 World Cup anthem is called “Live It Up,” performed by Nicky Jam alongside Era Istrefi and Will Smith. 

Does It Matter The North American World Cup Bid Greatly Outscored Morocco’s 2026 Bid?

The united bid from the U.S., Mexico and Canada far outscored the Morocco’s 2026 World Cup bid in FIFA’s technical review of the hosts after inspections earlier this year, the Associated Press first reported on Friday. 

The “United Bid” from North America received a score of four out of five while Morocco’s bid scored 2.7, including three aspects labeled “high risk” for the African nation.
