The 2018-19 Premier League title came down to the final match day. Manchester City, on 95 points, needed to take care of business away to Brighton and Hove Albion, who had ensured their own Premier League survival the previous weekend. At Anfield, Liverpool, on 94 points, needed to overcome seventh-place Wolverhampton Wanderers while simultaneously praying for a Brighton miracle at the Amex.

Here’s how the final day of action in the Premier League played out. 

SIMULTANEOUS KICK-OFFS AT ANFIELD AND THE AMEX 

The Arsenal Women wrapped up their record third FA Women’s Super League championship with a 1-0 victory over league runner-up Manchester City on Saturday. 

The league crown was wrapped up on April 28 with a 4-0 win over Brighton & Hove Albion (something the Arsenal men couldn’t do that week), preventing a dramatic finale in which Man City, the 2019 FA Cup winner, otherwise might have been able to nip the title on the final day. 

Paris Saint-Germain continued to play out the string on Saturday against Angers. Having clinched the Ligue 1 title and after suffering a shock loss in the Coupe de France final, PSG’s final three matches are little more than glorified friendlies for the Parisian club. 

So perhaps with that in mind we saw a new Neymar headband on display Saturday in PSG’s 2-1 sunny stroll past Angers. 

Christian Pulisic played his final home match in front of Borussia Dortmund’s magnificent Yellow Wall on Saturday. The American 20-year-old will play for Chelsea come next fall, but he gave his home fans for the last four years a little parting gift against Fortuna Düsseldorf.

Pulisic opened the scoring with a diving head in the first half as Dortmund held on to a crucial 3-2 victory. Combined with RB Leipzig’s 0-0 draw with Bayern Munich, BVB is now two points back of the defending champions with one match to play.

Manchester United fans have endured a bad season. Big-name players haven’t been turning up for matches, and many fans want to see the United squad completely revamped.

With Manchester United’s massive transfer budget, the club has been tipped to bring in some talented and big-name players in the summer. But there’s no guarantee that paying big bucks on a players will bring the Red Devils back from the depths of the Europa League.

Everyone knows the famous boxing photograph of a victorious Muhammad Ali towering over the vanquished Sonny Liston. It’s an image that screams pride, power and the futility of attempting to fight the sport’s GOAT. During today’s Europa League semifinal second leg between Chelsea and Eintracht Frankfurt, we got a recreation of that famous moment, except Ali was substituted for Kepa Arrizabalaga (who refuses to be substituted himself) and Liston for a soccer ball.

For the second time ever, the Champions League final will pit two English clubs against one another in what is sure to be an instant classic. Even if the final has a fraction of the drama supplied in the semifinals, we’re in for a treat. But you may want to watch from home, because Champions League final tickets cost are astronomical.

In great news for Jamaica, the 2019 Gold Cup and fans attending the USMNT’s upcoming friendly against the Reggae Boyz at Audi Field in Washington, D.C., 21-year-old Bayer Leverkusen winger Leon Bailey is reportedly finally set to make his international debut for the side after years of disputes between the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF), the player and his representative, step-father Craig Butler.
