Dele Alli Danced Around Man City Players — But Couldn’t Get By Pep Guardiola

After Manchester City and Tottenham played one of the most thrilling Champions League matches in recent memory on Wednesday, the two clubs were always going to struggle to match the intensity and entertainment value in their Premier League matchup on Saturday.

Alex Morgan One Of Two Footballers Named To Time 100 List

A couple months out from the 2019 Women’s World Cup, Alex Morgan has been named to the Time 100.

Morgan is one of two footballers named to the list of the 100 most influential people put together by Time magazine. That list includes everyone from Taylor Swift to Donald Trump, Michelle Obama to Ariana Grande, Dwayne Johnson to Emilia Clarke (Daenerys).

Mohamed Salah joined Morgan on the list as the only other soccer player chosen. Other athletes included Caster Semenya, Naomi Osaka, LeBron James, Tiger Woods and (kind of) Ninja.

What Do 50,000 Used Beer Cups Look Like? A Beautiful White Football Pitch Thanks To Budweiser

Every four years, hundreds of thousands of fans descend upon a new country, laying waste to incomprehensible volumes of a pale, frothy liquid. The World Cup is a time to celebrate not just soccer, but humanity, and what better way than by consuming the same beverage many anthropologists believe to be impetus behind early mankind giving up its nomadic societies to create what we know today as civilization — beer.

This Variant Of The “Pele Runaround Move” Might Be Better Than The OG

Sometimes a miss can be just as beautiful as a goal. I once compiled a list of my favorite almost goals (which you can find here), but a lot of them include the football cracking off the post in a totally satisfactory way (large ping included) or Zinedine Zidane “Zidane Turning” his way beyond defenders before languidly spooning a shot into the heavens.

If you’re an American who’s somewhat befuddled by the simultaneous competitions that seemingly rage endlessly in European soccer — particularly the difference in Champions League vs Premier League — here’s a quick primer to set you straight so that you can enjoy both struggles to the fullest.

Ruth Bader Ginsburg Wears A Particular Soccer Jersey For Her Biweekly Workouts

Ruth Bader Ginsburg is probably America’s greatest badass. A lifelong fighter for women’s rights who joined the Supreme Court in 1993, she’s fought off cancer more times than you’ve fought off the urge to eat that last slice of pizza.

At 86, she’s doing her best to stay in shape, despite being diagnosed with cancer three different times (colon, pancreatic, lung). RBG’s biweekly workouts are no joke, as Stephen Colbert found out last year. Honestly, she works out more than I do and probably 90 percent of politicians in DC.

A Day To Forget: Remembering The Man Who Missed 3 PKs In One Copa America Match

If you ever think you’re having a bad day at the office — maybe your alarm didn’t go off or the coffee tastes like garbage or you’re one of the millions of people suffering from wage theft — be glad you are not Martín Palermo, the man who holds the Guinness World Record for most missed PKs in a single match.

Penalty kicks are, typically, seen as an automatic goal. A good penalty taker will seemingly never miss, like Crystal Palace’s Luka Milivojevic.

Abby Wambach Makes The Case For Equal Pay On The Daily Show With Trevor Noah

Trevor Noah is a soccer fan, this much we know. He made some great jokes about World Cup commentators last summer and followed it up with some powerful words on the Africanness of the French national team that won the tournament.

Hope Solo’s Life Story Getting Movie Treatment From Same Studio That Produced ‘Hacksaw Ridge’

Hope Solo is getting a movie deal.

The former USWNT No. 1 goalkeeper, who helped the U.S. lift the 2015 Women’s World Cup trophy, will have her life story developed into a feature film, a news release announced on Tuesday.

"Hope Solo is a force of nature who broke down walls in women’s sports, both as a player and as a humanitarian,” writer/director Christine Crokos said in the release. “Her story is one of pure trailblazing and fierce athleticism — one that many generations to come will honor and look up to.”
