Brazilian Legend Zico, 65, Scores Ludicrous Looping Goal In Celebrity Match

A Brazilian may age, but they never lose their touch.

Zico, one of the greatest footballers to ever play for the Seleção, played his last match as a professional 24 years ago. But at 65, he’s still got the velvety touch and incredible shot that helped him bag more than 500 goals for Flamengo and 48 more for Brazil.

One of the greatest free-kick takers of all time, Zico was a magnificent No. 10 in his day. He spent most of his career with Flamengo over two stints while also playing in Italy briefly for Udinese. He finished his playing days in Japan with Kashima Antlers.

Despite moving into coaching (he’s now technical director for Kashima Anthers) and putting on a few pounds, Zico still has his incredible eye for goal, as he put on display in a recent celebrity match at the Maracanã, where he starred for decades with Flamengo.

Playing alongside the likes of Kaka, Julio Cesar, Adriano, Maicon and Clarence Seedorf, Zico put on a show with two goals.

The first Zico celebrity match goal was nothing extraordinary, taking advantage of some lax defending before calmly chipping past the keeper.

The second was something extraordinary, scooping the ball 20 feet into the air over the keeper before falling softly into the back of the net.

Not bad for a 65-year-old. I just hope I can still walk when I’m that age.
