After months of speculation, the USWNT Olympic roster is here. Vlatko Andonovski went about as conservative as possible, picking an old, experienced, veteran squad to represent the Stars and Stripes in Japan this summer.
Roster reveals for major international tournaments often come with plenty of fanfare, such as when soccer and British royalty announced England’s 2019 Women’s World Cup squad. But the USWNT roster reveal featuring Ted Lasso and Coach Beard is by far the best we’ve ever seen.
You can catch the video above (or below), in which Lasso — played by Jason Sudeikis — and his trusty assistant — played by Brendan Hunt — announce the USWNT roster for Tokyo 2020. Given that Andonovski’s roster is a little boring (17 of the 18 were on the 2019 Women’s World Cup squad), everyone’s favorite fictional coach of AFC Richmond brings much-needed excitement to the reveal.

That was so much better than this reveal on Good Morning America that had about as much excitement as the roster itself.

For more on the roster itself, click here. Until then, we hope Alex Morgan is working the celebrations suggested by Lasso and Beard after she was called out for copying Lasso in the past.
