Ronaldo Sets Up Juve’s Opening Goal Less Than 20 Minutes Into Return To Old Trafford

Cristiano Ronaldo was full of flicks and tricks early on in his first visit to Old Trafford since joining Juventus. He made Ashley Young look silly with an early move and even had an admirer invade the pitch  to see him (though he was tackled before he reached the former Manchester United winger.

Then Ronaldo made an actual imprint on the game, setting up Juventus’ first goal in the 17th minute.

Ronaldo made one of his trademark lung-bursting sprints down the right sideline before sending in a teasing cross toward the middle of the pitch. The ball took a deflection or two before landing at the feet of Paulo Dybala, who made no mistake placing the ball into the back of the net.

While we can’t give Ronaldo an assist on the goal, we can credit him with setting it up, like Mesut Özil’s hockey assist on Monday for Arsenal. But it's not the first time Ronaldo has found success against a former team.

Juventus dominated the early proceedings at Old Trafford, with the home side barely able to complete a pass in the final third in the opening 30 minutes.
