Three years ago, Beats by Dre won the advertising battle at the World Cup without even sponsoring the event. With the likes of Neymar, Chicharito, Cesc Fabregas and Luis Suarez all rocking the headphones, FIFA was forced to ban the noise canceling contraptions to protect the event’s official audio sponsor, Sony.
Even still, Beats by Dre’s “The Game Before The Game” advert was probably the best spot at the World Cup.
Now, with the holiday season fast approaching, Beats by Dre has again turned to Neymar with their latest campaign, "Above The Noise." According to the company, “Above The Noise” is “a new story that celebrates those who rise above the negativity and distractions to become who they are meant to be.”
It’s a timely spot with regard to Neymar after the Brazilian attacker recently broke down following a spirited defense of his character from his national team coach. This all stems from the treatment Neymar has received from the media since joining Paris Saint-Germain.
While it hasn’t been an ideal year for the 25-year-old, PSG are currently atop the Ligue 1 table, they’ve secured qualification for the Champions League Round of 16 and Neymar will take home roughly $93 million in total earnings this year.
