With world famous clubs like Mamelodi Sundowns, Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs, South Africa’s Premier Division — officially referred to as the DStv Premiership for sponsorship reasons — is one of Africa’s best, and the South African Premier Soccer League top scorers 2020-21 have made this one of the most memorable seasons yet.
Historically speaking, legends such as Tico-Tico, Siphiwe Tshabalala (you remember that goal against Mexico at the 2010 World Cup) and Collins “The Hurricane” Mbesuma have delighted fans of the PSL, and that mantle is now being carried forward by the likes of Bradley Grobler, Peter Shalulile and Ruzaigh Gamildien.
While Mamelodi Sundowns have dominated recently (winning the last few PSL titles), they’re being pushed to the end this season by AmaZulu, SuperSport United, Orlando Pirates, Lamontville Golden Arrows and Moroka Swallows. This is a fiercely competitive division, and the South African Premier Soccer League top scorers 2020-21 are proving instrumental in the hopes and dreams of their respective sides.
