Real Madrid narrowly escaped Sevilla in extra time of the UEFA Super Cup. Dani Carvajal's excellent individual goal ensured we got a great start to the season and also didn't have to watch a penalty shootout.

Marco Asensio introduced himself to Real Madrid fans with a rocket to open the scoring.

Not to be outdone, Sevilla responded with a golazo of their own.

Sergio Ramos gave away a penalty that Konoplyanka buried (just moments after he had come on as a sub).

BUt he made up for it in the 93rd minute because he's Sergio Ramos and of course he did.

And then, in extra time, Dani Carvajal dribbled at the Sevilla defense, turned on the jets and finished with the outside of his foot. Game over.

What a way to start the season. Great game.
