Monumental 2-Goal Comeback In Final Minutes Gives Flamengo The Copa Libertadores Title

Gabriel Barbosa is now immortal.
November 23, 2019

As the clock approached 90 minutes at the Estadio Monumental in Lima, Peru, it looked a certainty that Rafael Santos Borré’s 14th-minute strike had given River Plate a second successive Copa Libertadores title.

But in the 89th minute, Gabriel “Gabigol” Barbosa turned it around for the Rio de Janeiro-based club.

Then, with extra time looming, Gabigol shocked the world with a dramatic winner.

It doesn’t get any better than this.

Flamengo now qualifies for the 2019 FIFA Club World Cup in Qatar, which begins on Dec. 11.
