Edson could be the next ex-Ajax man to reunite with Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford.
Mexico national team captain and West Ham's Edson Álvarez could be making a big move this summer, with reports linking the midfielder to Manchester United.
Edson Álvarez linked to Manchester United for summer transfer
According to Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United are seriously considering signing Álvarez in the upcoming transfer window amidst the exit of Casemiro.
‘El Machín’ is ‘appreciated’ by United manager Erik ten Hag — the Mexican’s former manager at Ajax in the Dutch Eredivisie between 2019 and 2021 — and would need great effort from United to make the move. Álvarez would become only the second Mexican in history to play for the Red Devils after Manchester United and El Tri icon Javier Hernández.

This could be huge.
Edson would become another one of many former Ajax players managed by Ten Hag to make the move to Old Trafford, joining the likes of Lisandro Martínez, Antony and André Onana.
The 26-year-old central midfielder joined West Ham in 2023 for $38 million after a successful four campaigns in the Netherlands where he was able to win two Dutch Eredivisie league titles as well as one Dutch cup.
Álvarez made 42 appearances for the Hammers across all competitions, playing 37 games as a starter. He has a current market value of $35 million.
