Preseason serves as a great window to get rid of the rust and make mistakes to learn from even for veteran players. Gotham FC and USWNT star Kelley O’Hara shared just that on Wednesday in a hilarious video of her getting tackled by a motionless defender.
During NWSL preseason with defending champions Gotham, O’Hara was completely cleaned out by a defender. The good news is that there won’t be any hard feelings due to the fact that one of the players involved in the incident lacks the ability to have feelings.

O’Hara shows that even players with 150+ appearances for the national team can make humorous mistakes. The video posted to Instagram has already garnered nearly 700,000 views.
The 35-year-old defender wasn’t named in the USWNT’s roster for the upcoming Concacaf Women’s Gold Cup and is prepping for her second season with Gotham FC. In the 2023 campaign she made 15 appearances and eight starts with the Bats.
She’ll have the company of several USWNT teammates on Gotham this upcoming season after the defending champions signed Crystal Dunn, Rose Lavelle, Emily Sonnett and Tierna Davidson.
Gotham FC kick off their 2024 season with the NWSL Challenge Cup on March 15 against San Diego Wave FC who won the NWSL Shield last year.
