Officially, the 2020 Puskás award was given to Tottenham’s Son Heung-min. Unofficially, Croatia and Besiktas center back Demagoj Vida scored the greatest goal of the 2020 calendar year. This amazing Vida goal on Sunday deserves everything and more.
The cherry on top of this sweet strike? This bad boy was scored in the 69th minute. Nice.
I’m honestly happy for the Croatia captain. The poor guy needed something positive in his life that wasn’t a COVID test at halftime of an international friendly.
I think it’s safe to say that we have the front-runner for the 2021 Puskás Award — you will remember the name of “Vida’s backheel goal vs. Büyüksehir Belediye Erzurumspor!”
OK, maybe you won’t remember the name. The video will stick with you though. Here’s the goal again.
This finish from Domagoj Vida is unbelievable

Now this is what you call Livin' La Vida Loca. The Ricky Martin CD in my car would be proud.
