Romania was off to an impressive first half in their return to the Euros, scoring perhaps the best goal we’ve seen in the tournament so far.
After an even first 25 minutes of Monday’s first of three group stage matches, an error out the back for Ukraine helped Romania take the lead through an insane first-time curler.
Nicolae Stanciu wonder goal vs. Ukraine
An intense pressure from the Romania attack on the Ukraine defense saw Real Madrid goalkeeper Andriy Lunin clear the ball into Romania’s possession, with a quick one-two at the edge of the box leaving captain Nicolae Stanciu the opportunity to try a worldie to put his country ahead. And he did just that.
THIS WAS FILTHY!!!

Romanian fans present at Allianz Arena erupted while celebrating their first goal at the European tournament since 2016.
The goal gets even better as we watch the replay, with a behind-the-ball camera shot doing Stanciu’s insane striking technique justice.
Nothing was stopping this absolute ROCKET from Nicolae Stanciu
