I don’t care much for the NFL. As a Texan by birth, I’m required to at least have a team (hint: it’s not the Cowboys), but other than that the Super Bowl is nothing more than an excuse to eat guacamole and queso.
But one thing caught my eye in the NFL on Sunday night as the Buffalo Bills beat the Pittsburgh Steelers 17-10 to clinch a playoff berth, just their second trip to the postseason this millennium.
After Jordan Poyer pulled down a late interception in the end zone to all but seal Buffalo’s victory, he and the Bills defense staged a soccer penalty kick shootout in the Steelers’ end zone.
Poyer, with his teammates lined up around him, took a shot at safety Micah Hyde, who guessed correctly but was unable to get low enough to block the shot.
Picked off in the end zone!
Jordan Poyer comes up with the huge takeaway. #GoBills @J_Poyer21: #BUFvsPIT on NBC

Not quite as dramatic as the NCAA men’s soccer finale on Sunday, but not bad.
Poyer was a multi-sport star growing up in Oregon, having been drafted by the Florida Marlins in 2009 and being named Cowapa League Player of the Year in basketball in high school, according to his Wiki page. Maybe the USMNT is next?
If this were any team other than the Bills, they’d probably be my new favorite team. But seeing as how I stopped watching all NFL for about a decade when the Bills beat my Houston Oilers by overcoming a 35-3 deficit in 1993, I don’t think I could ever actually root for them.
