AS Roma is one of the most historically successful clubs in the world, let alone in Serie A, and it seems the club now plans on building a stadium to match that status.
Modeled after the colosseum, the 52,500 seater is absolutely beautiful. Seriously, we have not seen a stadium this good-looking since Qatar revealed the plans for its stadiums. And this one has the added benefit of not being built with blood, tears, and destroyed dreams of disadvantaged immigrants, so it has that going for it as well.
In an interview with Bleacher Report, Roma President James Pallotta detailed some of the plans concerning the stadium’s construction. “[It] is going to take, all in, about two years. If we get lucky, it can be ready for the 2017 season. We'd love to have it open sooner, but there's nothing we can do about forcing it."
Included in the plans is an adjacent “Roma Village,” which seems like it will be paradise for Roma fans. The village will reportedly have a Nike Superstore, the Roma Hall of Fame, and an assortment of bars, restaurants, and stores.
Sounds like the pinnacle of civilization to us.
