Matthijs De Ligt Asume La Sorpresiva Eliminación De Países Bajos: "Perdimos Por Mi Culpa"

"Me siento mal. Perdimos por mi culpa". No hay doble lectura para Matthijs de Ligt. La sorpresiva eliminación de Países Bajos ante la República Checa, en los octavos de final de la Euro 2020, pasó principalmente por la tarjeta roja que recibió el defensor.

La expulsión ocurrió en el minuto 55, cuando el marcador aún estaba cero a cero y la Oranje expresaba cierto dominio.

De hecho, Países Bajos había tenido la oportunidad más clara, un par de minutos antes, en una entrada que Donyell Malen no supo definir ante Tomáš Vaclík

Pero luego vino la desfortuna para De Ligt, quien luego de un pequeño momento de duda terminó deteniendo un ataque checo con su mano.

Como era último hombre y cortó una ocasión manifiesta de gol, el VAR determinó que merecía la cartulina roja.

El dato curioso es que Países Bajos ha recibido cuatro tarjetas rojas en toda la historia de la Eurocopa y las cuatro vinieron enfrentando a la República Checa.

Frenkie de Jong, como buen amigo y compañero, trató de exculpar al defensa. "No podemos culpar solo a De Ligt. Sé que se siente responsable, pero está exagerando. Fracasamos juntos", dijo tras el partido. Sin embargo, es claro que tras aquella jugada, Países Bajos colapsó.

Con uno más, el viento cambió en beneficio de los checos y a los 68 minutos, Tomas Holes abrió el marcador de cabeza.

Holes, que apenas comenzó a ser convocado a la selección en septiembre de 2020, acabó siendo una de las figuras del encuentro.

Además del gol, anuló a Giorginio Wijnaldum y a los 80' habilitó a Patrik Schick para sentenciar la llave. 

Mientras en Países Bajos ya se cuestiona la continuidad de Frank de Boer al mando de la selección, en República Checa ya preparan su duelo por cuartos de final ante Dinamarca, el cual será el próximo sábado 3 de julio, en Baku, Azerbaiyán.
