Six-time FIFA Women’s Player of the Year Marta and her Orlando Pride teammate Toni Pressley announced their engagement on Monday morning through Instagram.
Marta, who’s the all-time record goalscorer in FIFA Women’s World Cup history with 17 goals, posted a photo along with the caption, “This is another chapter of the story that we are writing together.”
Pressley, a 30-year-old defender who overcame breast cancer to return to the pitch in 2019, posted the same image along with the caption, “Yes.”

Marta and Pressley both appeared in all four matches of the 2020 Fall Series for Orlando with the 34-year-old Brazilian tallying one assist.
Orlando approaches the 2021 season knowing that its chemistry level is higher than any other team across professional sports. Marta and Pressley are aiming to become the second married couple on the Pride — goalkeeper Ashlyn Harris and defender Ali Krieger got married on Dec. 28, 2019.
