The 2020 MLS regular season is in full swing again following the completion of the MLS is Back Tournament at the Walt Disney World Resort. Everything will look a little different this year with the season cut short and the playoffs expected to begin Nov. 20, so don’t expect the MLS top scorers 2020 and eventual Golden Boot winner to come close to Carlos Vela’s 2019 total of 34 goals or Josef Martínez’s 2018 haul of 31.
The top will also shift from last year with Martínez currently recovering from a torn ACL and Zlatan Ibrahimović returning to Milan, but the current frontrunner is the man who finished in fourth last campaign, LAFC’s Diego Rossi.
There’s also a trio of young Americans near the top of the charts in 2020, including Toronto’s Ayo Akinola (20), Orlando’s Chris Mueller (23) and Seattle's Jordan Morris (25), while Bradley Wright-Phillips continues to bang them in at age 35.
