After receiving a six-month ban from the USWNT for calling Sweden's national team "cowards," it appears we may have already seen the last of Hope Solo for the USA. So who will replace her? We figure there are three options.
Naeher figures to have the best shot at replacing Solo. The 28-year-old Chicago Red Stars goalie backed up Solo in the last two major tournaments, the Olympics and World Cup, although she did not play in either. She has seven caps total.
Franch has yet to actually be capped by the USWNT, but the 25-year-old was called up for the USWNT's friendly against Japan in July, although she did not play.
Franch plays for the Portland Thorns in the NWSL alongside USWNT players Lindsey Horan, Tobin Heath and Meghan Klingenberg.
Harris is the USWNT non-Solo keeper with the most caps with, uh, eight. She was an alternate for the 2016 Olympics in Rio. Harris plays for the Orlando Pride, and has played at various clubs around the USA and in Germany and Sweden.
