Mexico have announced the U-23 squad, along with three overage players, that will represent El Tri at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio. Having won the gold medal at the previous Olympics in London in 2012, this Mexico squad will be looking to defend their title with the likes of Oribe Peralta, Alfredo Talavera, Erick “Cubo” Torres and Jorge Torres Nilo.
Peralta, Talavera and Nilo represent the three over-23 players for Mexico.

Goalkeepers: A. Talavera, G. Lajud
Defenders: J. Abella, E. Aguirre, C. Montes, C. Salcedo, J. Silva, J. Torres Nilo
Midfielders: C. Cisneros, R. Pizarro, V. Guzman, E. Gutierrez, M. Perez, A. Gonzalez
Forwards: H. Lozano, O. Peralta, E. Torres, M. Bueno
Players from Mexico’s U-17 World Cup winning squad include Arturo “Ponchito” Gonzalez and Marco Bueno.
Meanwhile, the Pachuca trio of Erick Gutierrez, Rodolfo Pizarro and Hirving Lozana have all been selected to lead the El Tri attack.
Mexico begin group play against Germany in Group C. They’ll follow that match with games against the Republic of Korea and Fiji. The Mexican Federation has also announced a warm-up match against Argentina's U-23 team for the 28th of July in Puebla.
