Claudio Ranieri is that nice, sweet, charming uncle that we all wish we had growing up. For those of you who believe that nice guys finish last, that will come as a bit of a shock to you considering that he and his team, Leicester City, are about to win the Premier League this Sunday.
It’s not guaranteed, but if Leicester beats Manchester United on Sunday, or Tottenham loses to Chelsea on Monday, or any combination of Leicester picking up or Tottenham dropping three points occurs throughout the rest of the season, Leicester will be crowned champions.
It’s a results that seems as certain as it ever has, and Leicester City’s fans have shown their gratitude to Ranieri, who made it all possible.
By now, Leicester’s story has been covered and recovered ad nauseum, and rightly so. It’s one of the true rags to riches stories in the world today; something so unlikely that it was on par with Elvis being found alive in the mind of oddsmakers (5000-1, for the curious).
The accomplishment makes you believes in dreams again. It makes you think that you can do anything you set your mind to. That you can make the impossible possible. But above all it makes you want to root for Leicester City.
I can’t wait for Sunday. It will be an opportunity to truly see dreams come true. Sports doesn’t get any better than this.
