This weekend was filled with drama and good soccer, and these five performances stood out.
#5 - Giorgio Chiellini:
The Italian defender scored a hat-trick of sorts in Italy’s Euro qualifier against Azerbaijan Friday, contributing two goals for Italy and an own-goal.
#4 - Diego Tardelli:
Tardelli scored both goals for Brazil in their win over Argentina, a game that helped prove Brazil is still a force to be reckoned with.
#3 - Poland:
Poland is not technically a person but we’re bending the rules here a bit because of the significance of what they did. Poland beat Germany Saturday for the first time ever, 2-0. It was a game they will not soon forget.
#2 - Robbie Keane:
The 34-year-old striker used his time away from the L.A. Galaxy productively, scoring a first-half hat trick in Ireland’s 7-0 win over Gibraltar. His was the fastest hat-trick scored in Euro tournament history.
